Hello,

We are having a heated discussion in our practice about coding global vs non global, in ob. Here is the senerio:

Patient transfer from another state, was seen 5 antepartum visits, we take over care and bill 8 antepartum, delivery and postpartum.

Some want to bill: 59426 (8visits)
59400 (delivery)
They are stating because we did not see the patient for the total ob prenatal visits they can split the global.

I disagree I state we should only be billing the global 59400. Please advise.

I apologize that in two months you have still not gotten a response. Let me see if I can scare up any OB experts to answer your question.
